Paul Barton joined Casa Emanu-El UMC on November 1, 2020. He is Mexican American, with his mother from Mexico and his father half-Anglo and half-Mexican. He has an M.Div. degree from Perkins School of Theology in 1988, and the Ph.D. degree in Religious Studies from Southern Methodist University in 1999 . He is an ordained elder in the UMC and a clergy member of the Rio Texas Conference. He served as the director of the Course of Studies and the Hispanic-Latino/a Church Ministries Programs at Perkins from 2015-2021. Before that, he was the Associate Professor of the History of American Christianity and Missiology and director of Hispanic Church Studies at Seminary of the Southwest in Austin from 1999-2015. He has served a number of Hispanic and bilingual churches in Texas. Paul's wife, Beth, is a piano and voice instructor at a music school in Prosper. Their adult daughter, Elisa, is married to Surendra Sandrana and they live in Forney.
Hector Perez joined us as our custodian in 2021. He is a father of three, two sons in elementary school, and daughter in college. Hector also serves on staff at Gaston Chrisitan Center. He is an accomplished handy man and lives in our Casa View neighborhood.
Karen has been a member since 1996.
She graduated from Perkins School of Theology at SMU with a Masters in the Arts of Ministry degree. She has been married to Lloyd Eaker for 48 years and they have one daughter, Della. Karen has a passion for peace, justice, and the environment.
